How to use HomeKept

A two-minute setup, then it runs itself.

1. Set up your home

Open the app and go to My Home. Pick the systems your house actually has — central HVAC, a tank or tankless water heater, a well, septic, a fireplace, gutters, a sump pump, and so on — plus your climate. The more accurate this is, the more relevant your checklist.

2. Read your checklist

The Checklist tab groups everything into Overdue, Due soon (within three weeks), and Coming up. Each card shows when the task is due, how often it repeats, and when you last did it.

3. Mark things done

Tap the checkbox when you finish a task. HomeKept logs the date and schedules the next occurrence automatically. Not ready? Snooze pushes it out two weeks without losing the task.

4. Reorder the part

Tasks that use a consumable — a furnace filter, a water-heater anode, alarm batteries — show a Reorder link that takes you straight to the right part.

5. Keep your record

The Log tab is your full maintenance history. Export it as an open-format file any time, print a seasonal checklist for the fridge, or restore from a backup. Your data lives on your device — it's yours.

About reminders

The in-app checklist is the source of truth. Web push on iOS is unreliable, so HomeKept leans on the checklist plus an optional monthly email nudge rather than promising push notifications. No nagging, no shame.

Going Pro

A one-time $6.99 unlock adds custom tasks on any cadence, multiple properties, a manual & warranty vault, and a home-handoff export for when you sell. The free app keeps everything it has today.
